so i was sitting watching eastenders, and as usual, the eyes wandered over to the fishtank, and i noticed that the large pleco (Barry is his name) was laying along the front face of the tank, with his head near the bogwood that the dominant pair have 'owned'. I haven't named them all yet!

The male of the dom pair was staring straight at Barry, about 2 inches away from him. Just holding ground, staring at him. Uh-oh! i thought... although Barry is peaceful, he is huge, heavy and strong. If he wants to go somewhere and something is in the way, he will just keep pushing until its no longer in the way!

whereas the dom-male Convict is about 4 cm's in size, but very aggressive.

Now, im not sure exactly what goes on in their minds... Barry might have been thinking 'oi you, your in my way'... and dom male may have been thinking 'best you find another way then sucker', but after about 30 seconds of facing off, Barry turned around and gracefully (!) laid down on the plants, before eventually piledriving back to his favourite piece of glass to clean...

these little fish sure do stand their ground!

no floating casualties as yet, but 'hiding in the ornament' pair definitely arent getting their share of the food down to their refusal to come out of their hole. I'm laying food down at one end to draw the majority down there before laying food down at the ornament end to give them the chance to pop out and eat.
